The EX stamp is for Export model and the number 68 L is the manfacturing date in December 1968. The model number is for the western guitar Texan 6-string the 5/196, the letter behind the number stand for the color of the top, L it´s nature.

If anyone could provide any information regarding this make/model I would greatly appreciate it. I understand that many of these guitars are made in different configurations and colors however, I can't figure out why the model number would be different. It actually probably more closely resembles the 5/296 (12 string), but it's only a 6 string, and I believe the head stocks are different colors as well. Also, from what I have been able to find, it does not appear that the serial number matches those of the 5/196e. There is another stamp of simply EX as well, haven't been able to find what that may refer to though.įrom my research, it appears to me that this guitar most closely resembles the 5/196e however, it does not have the black sides and back, it is naturally finished on the whole guitar with the exception of the front of the headstock (which is black). The trade mark form from inside the sound hole shows that it is the Model Texan 5/196L, serial number 52648, date 68L. I have been handed down a Framus Texan vintage guitar from my grandfather but am having trouble finding any information on it.
